more effective lipid-based therapeutics to treat cancer and other diseases, announced today it has launched a Phase 2 trial of K16 in combination with bevacizumab for recurrent or progressive glioma in China.<\/p><p>HighField CEO Yuhong Xu, Ph.D., explained K16\u2019s liposomal construct of ATRA targets myeloid-derived suppressor cells (MDSC) that play a key role in the immune suppressing tumor microenvironment. K16 is the first drug to modulate myeloid cells and promote maturation and differentiation of MDSCs into functional immune cells that attack cancer.<\/p><p>Dr. Xu said, \u201cOur Phase 1 trial of K16 as a single agent suggested significant efficacy for treatment of recurrent glioma. In the Phase 2 trial, we are combining K16 with bevacizumab to provide a first-of-its-kind knock-out blow to brain cancer.\u201d<\/p><p>In the Phase 1 trial of K16 for glioma the overall median survival of 17 patients was more than 18 months. One patient experienced a complete response and remains cancer free after four years. Typically, for patients with glioblastoma, the most aggressive form of glioma, the one-year survival rate is about 25% to 40%.<\/p><p>In addition to the open-label multicenter Phase 2 trial for glioma (<a href=\"https:\/\/clinicaltrials.gov\/study\/NCT07678684?term=HF1K16&amp;viewType=Card&amp;rank=3\">NCT07678684<\/a>), HighField plans to initiate additional clinicals trials of K16 for other solid tumors.<\/p><p><strong>A Unique Lipid Technology<br \/><\/strong>HighField is the first to develop lipid structures that can navigate complex biological systems such as the tumor microenvironment and the immune system for novel treatments of cancer, autoimmune, metabolic and other diseases.
